What to Expect During and After a Distance Reiki Treatment Before the session I will contact you via phone, email, or text (whichever you prefer) to check in. I recommend setting aside the hour of your treatment to either lie down or sit comfortably somewhere you will not be disturbed. Turn off your phone and other electronics. You may want to put on some music, light a candle, or get cozy with your favorite blanket, whatever creates an atmosphere of relaxation for you. (Please note that if you are unable to set aside time for this, the Reiki will reach you no matter what you are doing and you will still receive its benefits.) Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and state your intention to receive the healing Reiki energy being sent your way. You may experience sensations in the body such as heat or tingling. Some people report seeing visualizations such as colors or pictures, or having memories appear. You may feel a sense of relaxation, you may fall asleep, or you may feel nothing at all. This is all normal, everyone experiences the energy differently. After the treatment, I recommend drinking water and resting if necessary. Your body will be in a state of re-set. You may feel increased energy or tiredness. You may sleep really well. Emotions may be felt more acutely, or you may get agitated easily. Some people report flu-like symptoms. Do not be alarmed, this is just your energy body detoxing. Most symptoms will resolve themselves within 24-48 hours.
